What is 808Arts.com?

808Arts.com was created with a simple goal: to support local Hawaii artists in sharing their work with a global audience.

22+ years of working with local artists through our sister company, Chromaco Fine Art Services, and our publishing parent Black Sand Publishing has shown us how challenging it can be to sell art online. Many artists don't have access to the resources required to build and maintain a website, market products, fulfill orders, and manage customer inquiries - all things that take time away from the process of creating art.

That's where we come in! With our expertise in art scanning, crafting museum-quality print products, and managing online orders, we can handle the tedious aspects of your business so that you can focus on your artistry.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Hawaii Residents: In order to keep the focus of 808Arts.com on Hawaii's art community, we are only partnering with artists who live in Hawaii and who create commercially viable art.

  • What About Photographers?: Fine art photographers are welcome and encouraged to apply. Please keep in mind that we are only accepting applications from professional fine art photographers. Your application will need to include an artist statement, details of your process, and a description of the artistic intent behind each image.

We accept digital uploads of paintings and photography. Your work must be created with quality and attention to detail such that your art would be a good fit in art galleries and retail store. Subject matter must be relevant to Hawaii and suitable for all ages. Our primary focus is on art "prints", so we are unfortunately not able to accept 3D work like textile art, sculpture, etc.

After acceptance we ask artists to submit a Minimum of 5 / Maximum of 10 "print-ready" images of their art. We pride ourselves on the quality of our prints, and we require high resolution, professional image files.

We set competitive retail prices based on Hawaii market research and many years of selling art. You may choose to price your prints higher during submission, but not lower.

Our Retail Pricing has a ceiling price of $2,000, our strategy is to offer affordable art to reach a wider audience, and to not overlap with traditional galleries who carry more expensive original art and prints.

New artist programs will initially include licensed, open edition fine art prints. You will have options to choose your preferred products when you submit your art, but all submissions are subject to final approval by the 808Arts team.

  • Matted paper prints
  • Fine art watercolor prints
  • HD metal prints
  • Canvas giclée prints
  • Wood panel prints

Print sizes are mostly under 18"x24" to maintain affordability, but you have the option of allowing buyers to request custom sizing.

If your original art is not yet scanned, you can work with our local sister company Chromaco for fine art scanning services.

Your art is licensed non-exclusively to 808Arts.com and royalties will be paid based on actual sales.

The Retail royalty rate is currently 30%, and the Wholesale royalty rate is currently 20% (paid to Artists).

Royalties will be issued every 60 days. More details can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

Yes.

Marketing is a collaborative effort between you and our in house marketing team.

Experience has shown us that buyers are most interested in hearing from the artist. While we will also be promoting your work via our own marketing channels (email, social media, paid advertising) we expect all artist partners to take an active role in driving traffic to their 808Arts collection.

Wholesale

808Arts.com also distributes fine art to wholesale trade accounts - galleries, boutiques, retail stores, designers, events, online art shops.

We are now offering a new wholesale channel to sell! Your art will reach a wide audience of motivated buyers in Hawaii and beyond, with wholesale accounts actively promoting your brand and selling your art. Accounts will be located in the US or overseas, as well as online. All wholesale accounts are pre-qualified by 808Arts.com to ensure credibility and a quality representation of your art.

You may elect to participate in the wholesale sales program once your application is accepted. Wholesale sales are typically higher volume and will allow your art to reach more end customers and promote your name/brand, although wholesale prices will be lower than retail (typically 50% discount).
